Burj Al Arab’s very own Nathan Outlaw has received the notable acclaim of the UK’s best restaurant for his self-titled Cornish outlet.
Taking No 1 placement in the coveted The Good Food Guide 2018, the coastal seafood restaurant, which is about five hours south west of London, replaces four-time holder of top spot, Cumbria’s L’Enclume.
The two-Michelin star Port Isaac eatery is now in its 10th year, and has been slowly creeping up the ranks in the guide since first making an entrance in 2009.
Already a household name in his homeland, Nathan Outlaw is also one of the most recognisable names in the Dubai restaurant scene, having moved into Burj Al Arab in 2016.
“As a chef it is one of the places you want to be,” he said when opening Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara.
Some of the dishes available in Dubai are also on the menu at his now UK-best Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, including the lobster risotto, which Time Out Dubai described as ‘perfect’.
In this year’s The Good Food Guide, Nathan’s Cornish spot was hailed for being “the whole package”, ‘offering diners a menu carefully crafted around the freshest local seafood in a relaxed dining room with perfect service that “just happens in the most discreet and attentive way”’, according to The Guardian newspaper.
The man himself added: “The award has come due to the hard work and dedication of our team who have now been working together for a decade. It just goes to show that if you stay true to yourself, get your head down, look after your customers and use the very best ingredients available to you, you’ll make it to the top.”
