Where to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is nearly here! If you aren’t travelling to Russia to watch your favourite team – then fear not, we’ve rounded up some amazing venues for you to enjoy the matches.

A foodie football party
When Russia and Saudi Arabia go head to head in the first match of the FIFA World Cup on June 14, make your way down to the Visa/Emirates NBD FIFA World Cup Viewing Party. The ballroom at Jumeirah Mina A’Salam is getting a FIFA makeover, complete with enormous screens, comfy seating and pop-up stalls serving food from The Hide, Zheng He’s, Khaymat Al Bahar and Tortuga. Emirates NBD Visa cardholders will enjoy a 30% discount on all food and drinks at the event. There will be valet parking to ensure visitors won’t have to worry about searching for a parking space and missing any of the goals. What’s not to like?

Go football mad at Perry and Blackwelder’s
Dubai’s first dedicated BBQ restaurant is going World Cup crazy from June 15 to July 15, with live action across ten screens, including one huge screen. Football enthusiasts can enjoy limited-time menu items to celebrate the competition, such as the World Cup Combo and the Wings Around the World plate of chicken wings, as well as drinks deals, food deals and more. The two-floored P&B has a lovely setting on the Souk Madinat waterfront and has Americana littering its corrugated iron walls. Meat at Perry And Blackwelder’s Original Smokehouse is cooked using the ‘slow and low’ principle. That means 20 hours in one of their smokers (ovens the size of a bath). The result is tender, sweet, gorgeous meat.

The deals

And as if that wasn’t enough to make you want to spend your World Cup season there, they are offering cash-back vouchers on your spending! For every Dhs200 spent, you get a stamp. Five stamps gets you a voucher of Dhs100, ten stamps to get a voucher of Dhs200, 15 stamps to get a voucher of Dhs300, or 20 stamps to get a voucher of Dhs500.

Don’t miss…

Slabs of beef brisket and the mesquite beef short ribs are beautifully silky, their structure demolished by the slow cooking.

McGettigan’s offers a large number of screens in every venue so you can catch each moment of the competition, no matter where you are sitting or standing, plus Happy Hours, SOS Breakfast Specials and other promotions on food and beverages.

To mark the start of the tournament, three of the venues (Souk Madinat, JLT and Abu Dhabi) are holding World Cup Themed Brunches on Friday June 15, where guests are invited to dress up in their team’s colours, win prizes and enjoy an appropriately raucous afternoon.
