If you’re keen to keep fit in paradise then this one’s for you. Aqua cycling is a fun and intense work out that’s kind to your joints. Similar to a spin class – intense cycling and motivating music, the water adds resistance which makes it feel like you have weights strapped to your body. Aqua spinning is a wonderful way to get fit and burn lots of calories – there’s no better way to try it than in the swimming pool next to the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.

Instructed by sought-after personal trainer Laura Marin, a former ballerina in the Spanish Royal Ballet, Pilates Reformer promotes strength, flexibility and balance. The workout is more dynamic and intense than its mat work counterpart as many of the exercises are performed through greater ranges of motion and involve resistance that is applied from springs and bands. This workout is fantastic for those with back stiffness, anyone looking to achieve greater control of their muscles or just generally want to increase fitness.

Growing in popularity, SUP Yoga combines the popular stand up paddle boarding with the art of yoga. Classes take place in swimming pools instead of a traditional studio and it’s suitable for both beginners and experts. The many benefits include improved flexibility, strengthened core and greater balance. The peaceful feeling of floating on water helps with relaxation and meditation while the yoga offers a great workout.

High altitude training
You might not believe it but you can actually train at high altitude in Dubai – in a High Altitude Suite. Putting a new spin on indoor cycling classes, Talise Fitness offers the only ‘group cycling altitude studio’ within the Middle East with Les Mills RPM classes. This operates on the principle that as altitude increases, air pressure decreases and less oxygen is available. Health benefits include heart rate optimisation during rest periods, better level of concentration and increased stamina. The entry level class starts a mile above sea level and the Elite class goes upto 3,300m.

This Chinese martial art is practiced for both defense training and health benefits. Held at the Atrium Garden, on the seventh floor, this is a dedicated space for Yoga and Tai Chi lovers. The area’s design corresponds with the Feng Shui concept and it stretches 14 levels through the center of the hotel to represent a passageway connecting heaven and earth. After the session, guests are welcome to rest in the pavilion inside the Atrium Garden.
